WTV’S Pre-Launch Benefit a Success!
With over one hundred guests attending the event, we had a wide variety of people from television producers to the Government Media Department, Greens WA, the City of Perth, art galleries, such as Gomboc Gallery and WA Gallery, universities, advertising agencies and community radio stations such as RTR FM, Curtin FM, KCR-FM, Capital Radio and 6EBA.
The event started off with a beautiful arrangement of classical music from the UWA Potaroos String quartet where Russell Goodrick the master of ceremony for the night followed. To welcome the guests, Councillor Eleni Evangel who was representing the Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi of the City of Perth gave a sincere speech about how much community television is valued in Perth not only by the public but also from the City of Perth. Next to follow, Adele Carles MLA for Fremantle who was representing Greens WA gave a speech regarding the digital future of community television throughout Australia that she and Senator Scott Ludlam supports immensely. Other guest speakers included two members of WTV’s Board, John Rapsey who discussed the types of programs WTV would like to showcase as well as the basics of the programming policy and Kelvin Westaway who discussed the financial mile stones that have been achieved and that will need to be overcome in the next few months.
With a vibrant fashion parade of Ruth Tarvdyas dresses, a successful auction conducted by auctioneer Peter Holmes of Celebrity Auctions to a tear jerking performance by a duo from Cabaret Cadenza, this event proved to be one of high quality and community spirit. After the presentation and performances guests were able to enjoy Truffle Hill wine and upbeat music from the Texas Rangers while socialising in the exquisite historical surroundings at His Majesty’s Theatre.
This event was also sponsored by Indepth Creative, Oceanus Restaurant, Prestige Catering, Caballero Retreat, Creating Events with Style, Satellite Recording Studio, Scene Modelling Management, Salmark, AIDA café, Concert & Corporate Productions, Magic Garage, Altea Information Technology, Perth Glory and HKABA.
With the success of the Pre-Launch Benefit, everyone at WTV is excited for the station to go on air. The next step though is the one week test broadcast which will begin in October where the audience can get a taste of the programs which will be on WTV soon!
