Bernard Carney, the indefatigable and inspirational Director of the Spirit of the Streets Choir, hatched an idea for a massed choir concert to celebrate National Sing for Health Week. Bernard and his Committee brought together eight choirs of disadvantaged people – the homeless, recovering addicts, physically and mentally disabled, even sufferers of Parkinson’s disease, to showcase the physical, mental and social benefits of singing. Months of organisation culminated in a stunning and deeply moving performance by 230 singers on stage at the Perth Concert Hall.
